rose salve - rose body butter with jojoba seed oil and beeswax

Jojoba Seed Oil, Peppermint And Tea Tree Skin Balm

Jojoba seed oil can be used to soften calluses and moisturize dry, cracked skin. Here is a recipe for a great salve that you can use to soften dry skin.
Total Time 1 hour

Equipment

  • stainless steel pot
  • containers

Ingredients

  • ½ cup jojoba seed oil
  • 1 tbsp grated beeswax (or beeswax pellets) (You can replace beeswax with soy wax if you want a completely vegan salve)
  • 10 drops peppermint essential oil
  • 5 drops tea tree essential oil

Instructions

  • Combine the jojoba oil and beeswax in the top of a glass or stainless steel double boiler. Don’t worry, if you don’t have a double boiler, you can put the ingredients in a small glass or stainless steel pot and place it inside of another pot filled half-way with water. This keeps you from overheating the oil or wax as well as herbs for advanced herbal infusions.
  • Heat them until the beeswax melts.
  • Stir in peppermint oil and tea tree essential oil. Feel free to add your favorite essential oil for added aroma or other soothing benefits it has to offer.
  • Pour the melted salve into containers.
  • Allow to cool before closing the lid on the container, so you do not trap condensation. Oil does not spoil, but water can create mold.
  • Once cooled, the product should have a butter-like consistency.
  • Store in a cool dark place. No refrigeration is needed.

Notes

Application
Use a small, dime-sized amount on your heels or other hard, chapped skin.
